Former Student, Hunter Exercise Science department

Hunter, give a little background history of yourself.

I am 30 years old and married with a son, which was born while I was in the program. Being from Louisiana, I am a lover of the outdoors and most sports. I worked in the medical field for ten years and was in the military for four years.

What made you decide to pursue this area of study (i.e. Personal Fitness Training)?I chose Personal Fitness Training based off my last few jobs. The military enlightened me to the great importance in a healthy body, and working in hospitals showed me what fitness can do to shorten recovery times as well as prevent illnesses.

What made you to decide to pursue this interest in the Personal Fitness Trainer program at ACC?

ACC has many benefits in there Personal Fitness Trainer program, the main one being the savvy faculty. Not only are they great instructors, but they have the background and experience that cannot be passed on through a book.

What was the hardest part of the program?

I think the hardest part of the program might be the classes later in the evening, however the faculty knows how to keep everyone engaged and interested.

What was the best/ most beneficial part of the program?

There are two things I found most The first is the faculty/ staff client that we got to work with for a semester, being able to work with someone and get feedback is a priceless experience.

Are you currently employed as a Personal Fitness Trainer? If so, at what capacity? If not, why?

Yes I am currently working as a personal trainer as well as working with small group and teaching classes.

If you had a single piece of advice for someone interested in being a Personal Fitness Trainer, what would it be?

I would have to say, don’t be afraid to ask. Your peers are your best resource
