The Education Instruction Department embraces the individuality and unique learning style of every student. We are dedicated to providing a quality teacher preparation program by cultivating a realistic perspective of the teaching profession. At the core of our program is the belief that active engagement in the learning process is critical for prospective teachers. It is essential for prospective teachers to develop the academic and reflective skills that will equip them to effectively respond to the diverse needs of a global society.
Degrees Offered
Teacher education is offered for early childhood-through-sixth grade, fourth-through-eighth grade, and eighth-through-12th grade. Our partnership with Texas Tech University also provides a faster track to your teaching degree through the TechTeach Program.
What is an Associates of Arts in Teaching Degree?
An Associate of Arts in Teaching is a specialized academic degree designed to transfer in its entirety to a baccalaureate program that leads to initial Texas teacher certification. The degree offers a structured, two–year program to gain an initial understanding of theories and methods in education.
