{"id":455,"date":"2019-07-30T05:08:55","date_gmt":"2019-07-30T05:08:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pss.austincc.edu\/childdev\/?page_id=455"},"modified":"2022-02-16T18:27:14","modified_gmt":"2022-02-16T18:27:14","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/education.austincc.edu\/childdev\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Our Vision<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The ACC Child Care and Development Department envisions exemplary early childhood educators working with young children and their families.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Our Mission<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><i>The Child Care and Development Department prepares knowledgeable and accomplished professionals to work with young children, families, and other professionals in a variety of roles in early childhood education by providing <\/i><b><i>multiple educational opportunities <\/i><\/b><i>and <strong>d<\/strong><\/i><b><i>egree options<\/i><\/b><i>.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>To fulfill its mission, the Child Care and Development department <a href=\"https:\/\/education.austincc.edu\/childdev\/faculty-staff\/\">faculty and staff<\/a> will:<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Honor the uniqueness of each individual by creating a learning environment that <b>reflects the growing diversity of adult students<\/b>, children, families and the community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Use a variety of <strong>r<\/strong><b>esearch-based<\/b> <b>instructional methods<\/b> to help students understand child development and <b>developmentally appropriate practices.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Support students in being successful learners, using <b>available resources<\/b> and navigating <b>barriers<\/b> to complete educational goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Model <b>leadership<\/b> in the early childhood community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Assure continued <b>responsiveness <\/b>to the early childhood community and its changing needs and trends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Advocate <\/b>for children, families and early childhood professionals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Conceptual Framework<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>The ACC Child Care and Development Department\u2019s Conceptual Framework guides our practice as educators, our work as colleagues, and our role in the community.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>One core belief forms the basis for all our other guiding principles\u2014respect for the inherent value of each person\u2019s unique perspective, culture, developmental stage and experiences. Mutual respect among all groups creates the sense of belonging, trust and depth of relationship that we believe is essential to fulfill our mission in our work as educators, as a faculty, and as members of the early care and education community.
