Graduates find jobs as teachers, assistant teachers, directors, assistant directors, curriculum coordinators, home visitors, nannies, family day home providers and owners of child care centers.<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in becoming an elementary school teacher, ACC\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/educationinstruction\/\">Education Instruction Department<\/a>\u00a0offers degree plans that allow you to transfer into four year colleges or universities. ACC\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/education.austincc.edu\/childdev\/awards\/\">Child Development AAS degree<\/a>\u00a0transfers to Texas State and University of Texas at San Antonio\u2019s BAAS Programs. Additional courses through an alternative certification program are required for eligibility for a teaching credential.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twc.state.tx.us\/\">Texas Workforce Commission<\/a>\u00a0has identified the child care industry as the 11th fastest growing economic sector for 2004 -2010. <a href=\"https:\/\/texaslmi.com\/\">The\u00a0Texas Labor Market Review<\/a> of June 2005\u00a0stated that child care workers are among the ten occupations with the most job openings from 2002- 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Child Development prepares students to work directly with young children.
